Scott Shappee, a Monroe insurance agent, has won the Professional of the Year award from the National Association of Professional Insurance Agents.
Shappee is vice president of sales at Insurance Center of Monroe, an agency where his grandfather, dad and uncles all worked.
The plan is he’ll be the third generation to run the agency. Meanwhile, he’s the top-selling agent with a book of more than $2.5 million in premium. He’s also involved with marketing the agency particularly through social media.
Shappee’s involvement with the Michigan Association of Professional Insurance Agents (MIPIA) is one of the reasons he was awarded the national honor. He’s held several positions with MIPIA, including president, and now serves as its technology committee chair.
